Tween
Yoga (10-14 yrs) A recent study by Harvard Medical School suggests yoga may help teens
curb anxiety, be more resilient and effectively manage anger and
fatigue. “The improvements we observed in resilience and emotion
regulation should serve as self-regulatory skills that will not only
improve the mental health of these adolescents, but serve to prevent the
incidence of mental health problems into adulthood,” said Sat Bir
Khalsa, PhD, lead study author. Just as with adults, yoga helps teens
and tweens to relax and center themselves. Introducing young teens to a
non-competitive, non-performance focused physical activity at what can
be an awkward age, can help provide and build a positive self-image. This
class creates a special place for teens to develop comfort
with their body, mind and spirit and to better the physical and emotional
shifts common at this age.
